New digital platform allows Canadians and advisors to find their perfect match

Like Match.com or HomeStars – Advisorsavvy connects consumers with advisors

TORONTO – May 2, 2019 – A new service launching today is poised to make the world easier for both consumers and financial advisors by allowing people to easily choose their advisor and ensure they are an ideal fit. Advisorsavvy is a free service that helps consumers find, compare and rate local investment, financial and insurance professionals in good standing through a collective knowledge base of online feedback and reviews.

Advisor rating site launches in Canada

“It’s like Match.com or HomeStars for the financial world,” said Solomon Amos, Advisorsavvy founder, an expert in digital marketing and client experience. Amos spent a decade developing and honing advisors’ practices across the US, Canada and Hong Kong at firms such as CIBC Wealth Management and BMO Private Bank. “I saw a burning need to connect people with the best advisors through an engaged, active and unbiased community.”

New survey shows 1-in-3 use an advisor, while 6-in-10 wouldn’t know where to look

Advisorsavvy commissioned an Angus Reid poll that found one-in-three Canadian adults presently use a financial advisor (34%) while two-in-three do not. Notably, the survey found that six-in-10 Canadians (58%) would not know where to find feedback or reviews when researching financial advisors.

“In general Canadians trust their financial advisors, and there is good evidence that working with an advisor has significant financial benefits,” said Amos. “However, for the majority not using an advisor, as well as those not satisfied with their current advisor, little options exist to feel confident in selecting a partner to guide them toward their personal and family financial goals.”

How Advisorsavvy works

Advisors are invited to sign up to the Advisorsavvy community with three options for building their professional profile and ways to differentiate their practice. Reviews and comments posted on an advisor page require registration to ensure the integrity and verification of feedback.

Advisorsavvy gives consumers a tool to match over a dozen pivotal life moments (such as buying a home, inheritance, having children or change in employment) with the right category of advisor – a list that includes Financial Planners, Investment Advisors, Insurance Advisors and Financial Coaches. The platform also provides the ability to sort and filter professional advisors by ratings, categories, language, fees, location and over 15 specialties.

Today’s launch of Advisorsavvy is for industry leaders in the insurance and investment advisory space. It will be followed by a broader consumer rollout later in May.
